I hurt my low back doing leg presses when I was in High School. Since then my back has hurt and my right leg went numb. About 10 years ago I had to resort to a walker. After having suffered with sciatica for over a year, and also getting shingles during that time, I tried three months of physical therapy for the sciatica which did not help me at all, and my doctor said the shingles pain could last indefinitely. She had no suggestions for me to try. I had to drop yoga class because of pain, drop my volunteer work, as well as stop many of my everyday activities like working in my garden and the more strenuous types of housework. Many times any extra moving other than very basic life necessities caused extreme pain.
Then, after a year and a half, things changed dramatically. Not only did I hear about Bowenwork, which is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that had been used to help many people with their pain as well as overall health, but I “lucked in” to a caring, compassionate, and very experienced Bowenwork therapist, Michael Schreiber in Johnson, AR, just north of Fayetteville.
I won’t try to explain how Bowenwork made such a difference in my life, I can just say “It did!”. After several visits to Michael, my pain was noticeably better. Now, I estimate that both pain issues, the sciatica and shingles, are 98% gone! At the same time, Michael has used Bowenwork therapy to help me with other issues. Allergies which I have had since childhood are noticeably better, digestion is better, and I am sleeping better. I could go on, but I will not, so I won’t appear to be exaggerating.
Recently, I realized that at 70 years of age, I have never felt this good; and am back to doing all the things I had given up because of pain! I think that the small amount of “twinges” I still get, only serve to remind me of where I’ve been and how blessed I am to have discovered Bowenwork and Michael Schreiber.

I feel better now than I ever have! I have been in pain for the last 15 years and had basically given up and thought I would have to live this way the rest of my life. My back pain was an agonizing companion on a daily basis. The doctors and other medical professionals felt the only solution was pain meds and more pain meds. I'd had two prior surgeries and was considering surgery yet again, but even after the surgery I was living on hydro-codone and just trying to get through each day.

Bowenwork? I took a chance as I had never heard of it. As I aged my hips and shoulder had increasingly gotten stiffer - something I had noticed in older people. Being determined to stay frisky as long as possible I asked for Michael's help and much to my surprise after a few sessions, I woke up and went about my day, but suddenly I realized the morning stiffness was gone completely! My complaints were primarily emotional, for following a major crime against me in 2008, I developed severe PTSD. I could not eat or sleep normally, was afraid to go out, and was afraid in my own home. In 2010, another individual, a local website developer, was discovered to have been cyber-stalking me for almost a year, a horrifying violation that plunged me even more deeply into anxiety and stress. My PSTD symptoms became almost unbearable, incapacitating me for daily life.
I started working with Michael just over a year ago. His expertise with Bowenwork has without a doubt helped me regain my center. My stress and anxiety have lessened, and I cope far better now.
Michael's work has been a mainstay on my road to recovery.

I would wake up almost every night with severe pain in two of my fingers which would bring me to tears! I tried to get help from my medical doctor, a chiropractor and a massage therapist but non of them had answers or could help me with the pain. I was lead to Michael....and what a God send! I came to Michael because of my mother's concern over my poor performance and lack of concentration in school. I am in eighth grade and also play on the football team. After three treatments with Michael I am proud to say that my grades are up from D's and F's to A's and B's, and instead of being on the fourth string in football I have been moved up to the third string and finally got to play a game! Bowenwork has helped me to improve my concentration in school and I have felt better physically, which has helped me to play better football. A young mother of three children recently came to us via her midwife. She was one week away from delivery and had a breech presentation of the baby. Michael did a session with her on a Wednesday evening. By Friday when she was escorted by her midwife to have a sonogram, and to everyone's surprise and delight the baby had turned and was head down ready for birth. Within one week of having a Bowenwork session the young mother delivered a full term healthy baby. The birth was very easy and without complications. Thanks again to Michael for such wonderful help at a very crucial time!

During my lifetime, I have had many health challenges. These include rheumatic fever, serious falls and two auto accidents. I went to see Michael when I was about two weeks overdue according to my "due date", with hopes that he had some pressure point techniques that would essentially put me in labor. Fortunately, I gained so much more. I gained a sense of peace from Michael that my baby would come when she was ready to come. He understood my desire for a home birth in water, with zero intervention. Michael assured me that we/he would open my body so that when the baby was ready, her arrival would be smooth and gentle. Most people don't think of childbirth as a smooth gentle experience but that's exactly the type of birth I wanted and that's the type of birth I got. I saw Michael twice during the full month I went "overdue".
The day my labor began, the stress and pressure from others to see a doctor about beginning my labor, was at an all time high when Michael called to check on me. I was crying my eyes out and he calmed me down and within four hours I was in labor. I labored for about nine hours, (my first natural birth mind you) with the last three hours being very intense. Within an hour of transitioning I was crowning and in three pushes I delivered my beautiful baby in water, at home, with zero intervention. I give full credit for the three pushes that still make my midwife chuckle, to Michael, and what Bowenwork did for me. It's truly amazing how something so simple and relaxing could make such an incredible difference . I highly recommend making and Michael and Bowenwork a part of your pre-birthing preparations!

Running is an important part of my life and over time I had noticed a problem developing my my left side, including my foot, hamstring and groin. My lower back was bothering me as well. I came to Michael four years ago with a pain in my mid-right back that pain killers would not relieve. After one treatment, the pain in my back gradually left. I am most excited about my problem with Fibromyalgia pain being completely gone after treatments 5 and 6. This pain involved a large area of my thighs and appeared stubborn to the Bowenwork. I am so glad Michael and I persisted through the treatments. I have also suffered with painful periods and ovulation all of my life. Since I started my menstrual cycle I have always suffered from PMS. I first received massage therapy from Michael several years after being diagnosed with polyarthritis and fibromyalgia. Although massages helped me relax, it wasn't until Michael did Bowenwork that I had significant change. One time I arrived at the session with a profound droop in my right shoulder. By the end of the session my shoulders were even, I was relaxed and not hurting. After any session I have more flexibility and less pain. Even when I go for longer intervals between sessions, my body seems to remember it and responds quickly.
Almost as important as the physical relief is what Bowenwork has done for my mental attitude and morale. I have several chronic health problems and am a cancer survivor. Over the past few years I have been a client of Michael's getting massages regularly. When he introduced me to Bowenwork I thought I would give it a try since I had a nagging lower back pain and sore feet.
